  • Lesson 2 - Networking Fundamentals - Peer to Peer

    This lesson covers the following aspects:

    • Network adaptors, cables and connectors.

    • Hubs, switches and routers

    • Setting up a peer to peer network using a switch and Windows

    • Mapping to a network hard drive

    • Connecting a printer to the network

    • Sharing a printer connected to a local port

    • Setting up a network printer via a switch

    • Setting up a print server

  • Lesson 4 - Network Maintenance, TCP/IP, Basic Network Troubleshooting

    Topics include:-

    • Location, access to, and control of network equipment

    • Hardware maintenance, help desks, site maps, data backup schedules

    • Basic troubleshooting, cable testers, ping, ipconfig.

    • A complete description of TCP/IP

    • I. P. addresses, subnet mask, default gateway, subnets

    Note that it would be an advantage (although not essential) if you had two computers that you can install a network on to.

 

   You will be shown how to set up a dual boot computer during the course.

 

    Two working computers will be essential in order to carry out the practical work, and obtain the accredited certificate.
